Here are the how-to's from left to right. I used a Cool Whip lid to mark 4 circles from the yellow dyed muslin, and a can of tuna to mark the black plaid center. Use whatever you have handy, being exact is not required,lol! Pin the center to 4 yellow circles, and cut the petals. The way I did it was to cut slits halfway, then half of each of those, til they were each about 1/2" wide. Now cut points in each petal if you want. Rip a piece of green fabric in strips, cut points into the tips if you wish,these will be leaves. Now use a running stitch to sew the center to the flower through all layers. Leave a small opening and stuff with some batting, then stitch closed. I use cotton crochet thread and make knots all over the center of the sunflower. Use your favorite aging method for the flowers and leaves. On these I used tea, vanilla, cinnamon oil and cinnamon powder. Squeeze them out and keep the petals sort of scrunched up and lay them on a cookie sheet lined with foil to dry. Do the same with the strips of green fabric. When dry, hot glue to a rusty bed spring or bamboo skewer or a stick. Tie the green strip on for your leaves.
