Make A Capelet and A Cap From An Old Sweater.....Some Necklaces.....Some Thrifted Goodies...Some Puppies!!

I've been inspired to make necklaces. The ones at Anthropologie are so cute and exactly me!

This lace bib is made with cotton scalloped lace cut into small pieces, and painted with gold glitter glue.

After I cut out 6 of the scallops, I painted each one, and then painted each one with clear nail polish to stiffen them..lol...hey, it worked!

I wish the photo had come out better, it's a nice gold color. Each scallop is connected with gold jump rings, then added to a gold chain.

This one was made after I saw Disney's version of a Banana Republic necklace at Ruffles and Lace. I used the gold glitter glue paint on this one, too. I'm in the middle of sewing it to a gold chain right now :D

Are we trying to refashion our old wardrobe into something new?? Well, I saw lots of capelets, and made 2 different ones. A striped one from my niece's outgrown sweater to give my granddaughter. I'm making leg warmers from the sleeves...but they're not done yet!

Here's the sweater before. I cut off the waistband, and cut the sweater off right under the sleeves.

And here it is as a fashionable capelet! I used matching turquoise thread, and stretched the cut ends as I zig-zag stitched the hem to make the lettuce curl edging. I gathered it off center and made a flower from a turquoise strip of the leftover sweater, and covered a button with the gray part for the flower's center, and sewed it down in the middle of the gather.

This one is made from a lady's sweater, and I forgot to take a before photo! But it was a turtleneck. I cut off the neck, and the waistband, and cut it right under the arms, and used the zig-zag stitch while stretching the edges to get that curly look. I gathered off center again, and tacked on a burned fabric flower.

With some of the sweater left over, I remembered the cute little cap tutorial Disney made as a guest at 30 Handmade Days here. I cut the largest circle I could get from the leftover, and used the turtleneck of the sweater as the cap's headband. To finish, I tacked on a burned flower; so pretty! This cap will be given to my great-niece, along with leg warmers I'm making out of the sweater sleeves.

My daughter took me to a thrift store, and I found some nice inexpensive pieces of fabric, each 2 yards or so.

Isn't that nice?

I already have a skirt planned for my granddaughter using my niece's outgrown shorts and the patchwork plaid fabric. Still trying to decide what style to make.

I got this tin pitcher for .59 cents, with plans to monogram it, but I don't know what colors yet. And the 2 glass bottles with stoppers were .39 cents.

Rose sleeping on my pillow.

Cosmo snuggled up against me on my pillow. He looks way too comfortable tucked under that quilt...

CoCo II......also laying on my pillow. Ah,well, I have a washer and dryer..........
Doesn't CoCo look like she has Little Orphan Annie eyes when she has them shut? Very freaky looking sometimes :D
have fun!

I love what you did with the capelets. I've wanted to try but been a little scared. I also want to thank you for the puppy pics, I can't have a dog where we are at and I'm in withdrawal so I live vicariously thru your pics, ty!
