More Mosaics

Besides mosaic on silver plate, I've made a lot of bird houses and other things. It's been such a wonderful way to pass the time for me and in the end I have a beautiful piece that I made with my own two hands.
I bought wooden bird houses at Michaels, they're about $5 each, sometimes I used the coupon in their advertisements. A lot of times I used the smaller wood bird houses from WalMart, they're about $3. I really like the smaller ones, because I like to set them on pretty candlesticks and be able to add a beaded ribbon under the bird house that dangles down and is all sparkly . Who doesn't love sparkly?
I found a wooden tissue box cover that I mosaiced in a sunny yellow color, just the right size for a square box of tissues.
It's pretty easy to make one of these projects for yourself. All you need is some broken china, you can buy plates at the thrift stores around here for .29. And a little trinket box with flowers attached to it for about .99. I just use silicone for doors and windows to glue my pieces on, and a big bag of powdered grout that I mix a small amount at a time in an old butter tub. After I'm finished grouting and cleaning, I use a clear acrylic spray to seal it.
